Sure Word for Today: God Is My Defence.
The Name of the Lord: Jehovah Goelekh —Part. 1
“And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.”
Isaiah 49:26 (KJV)
Jehovah Goelekh means “The Lord Thy Redeemer.” Redemption involves recovering something by paying the debt against it. A redeemer is the one who buys back, or pays ransom, or makes amends. I could see how God saves his people, but what is the debt involved? What must God pay in order to redeem us? And why did Jesus have to suffer and die for that?
Jesus is our Redeemer. He shed his blood for us, so that through faith in him we can be saved. It is Jesus who has redeemed us so we can be reunited with the father. He had taken the full brunt of the wrath of God as our great substitute. Jesus paid the ultimate price to redeem us so we can have a relationship with the father because sin was a barrier between us and the father. This price is not just physical death, but also for God’s righteous wrath resulting from the infinite penalty for sins committed against an infinitely holy God.
You cannot understand love until you understand the truth about the redemptive power of God. I am not encouraging you to sin, but the fact remains that even before you engaged in any act of sin, the redemption of God has made a way for you to be forgiven. You must understand the fact that God loves you so much that he couldn’t spare the very life of his only begotten son Jesus whom he allowed to die in your place. It is time you start taking God very seriously. This is not a joke. God means business here. Since God is for you I want to assure you that nothing has the power to be against you.
We all mess up, we all fail the LORD, we all fall down from time to time. Once you have repented, know and believe that JESUS has forgiven you. You need to stop condemning yourself because no matter what, Christ has redeemed you for the Lord our God
