The Sure Word for Today: God Gave Me a Sound Mind.
Reaching A Decision: Minimising Risk. — Part 2.
Slaves are now our rulers, and there is no one to set us free. We are in danger from brutal desert tribes; we must risk our lives just to bring in our crops. Our skin is scorched from fever and hunger.
Lamentation 5:8-10 (CEV)
The prodigal son got his inheritance in a hurry when became impatient to wait for the natural cause of events. I would not say it is a bad thing with how the story ends. No matter the nature of your story, we have been reminded that ‘all things work good to them that love God and are called according to his purpose.’ Even if the decisions you make are not good, because God is involved, it will materialise and benefit you at the end. The benefit might be in many different ways like learning lessons to become wiser, or miraculously favouring you.
Despite these promises, we want to reach a sound decision, minimise the risk of failing, and thank God for seeing us through. You might be engaged in the wrong business, don’t panic. Trust in the Lord with all your strength. Don’t do things like Esau and compromise your future. There are things you will do, and there will be no comeback. Just like Esau you cannot make amends and get back the birthright. Even if Jacob dies, the birthright will still be Jacob’s unless Jacob sold it to him, which Jacob was not ready to. They fought each other in the womb for the birthright and Esau won that battle by being born first but lost the war. The end matters more in life.
You concentrate too much on the battle. You are exhausted before the war. The war is the final; it is what puts all the pieces together. You must strategise in life to win the war and not to spend all your life wasting your energy, revealing your tactics and weak point to your enemies. The enemy will crush you for nothing if you expose yourself. Jacob knew the weakness of Esau. He prepared a meal Esau will not resist. He made the demand for the exchange because he knew Esau would fall for it.
God’s blessings make you rich and add no sorrow, no matter how invaluable you think they are.
