God Has Favoured Me.
Time and Chance — Part 7.
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 (KJV).
The Lord shall arise, and have mercy upon me: for the time to favour me, yea, the set time has come.
Here is something else, the fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to people of understanding, not yet favour to people of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
You can see that there are five basic things pointed out:
1. Race
2. Battle
3. Bread
4. Riches
5. Favour
These are the elements of success or failure in everything in this world. Surprisingly enough, all of these are functions of time and chance. You need these five basic elements for your year to be successful. These are the roots of anything you desire in life.
The race is not won by the person who is faster than the speed of light. We have read tales where the slow tortoise won races against the hare. We have come to embrace the idiom that slow and steady wins the race, but yet people are too fast to win. You need the persistence to succeed. Things are not going to work out for you the way you anticipate all the time, but you need to trust God to lead you to your promised land.
As long as you are alive, you will fight to defend your life and fight to defend your pride. No matter the nature or reasons for your fight, you overcome by the name of the Lord, the blood of the lamb, and the word of your testimony. Your testimony is the power of life from your tongue. Speak life to every situation.
Wisdom does not guarantee bread and it does not make you a breadwinner either. Understanding is not enough to make you wealthy. Skills are not automatic magnets of favour. Everything depends on time and chance. God is the time and chance that will make all grace abound towards you.
