Jesus and Conflict — Part 6.
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Philippians 2: 3-4 (KJV).
The conflict experienced by Jesus in the Garden of Gathesame was personal. The life of Jesus was from one conflict to another, yet he never allowed the world's weight to depress him. Every moment, every day, he overcame because he is more than a conqueror. Today we have been given more tools to overcome the pressures in our lives. Jesus did not have the blood of the lamb at his disposal, but we do. You will overcome by the blood of the lamb and by the word of your testimony.
Conflict is inevitable. It is like a contact sport, you will be knocked, and you will knock someone. If you are in contact with people, you will one day experience a conflict with them, even with our closest, dearest friends. Conflict is impossible to avoid. I am not here to discuss preventing conflict because it is impossible to dodge conflict in any dimension. I am here to encourage you to get ready for your next conflict and use it as a springboard for your breakthrough.
I have said countless times that one of the significant root causes of conflict is a misunderstanding. I want to upgrade this finding. Even if you were able to agree with someone 100% of the time about 100% of everything, you would still encounter a conflict at some point.
But why?
Because each of us is flawed. We do things other people dislike. We fall and fail. We misunderstand the intentions of others and take unnecessary offence.
Jesus was surrounded by a multitude of people. Some loved him, some hate him, and some distaste him so much they killed him. The conflict was constantly in his face, yet he never allowed the way others perceived him to distract him from his God’s given assignment here on earth. If you want to be like Jesus, it is not about his anointing but about the pressure and conflict he experienced and how he managed those events. Things were not rosy for him, yet he was calm and peaceful.
