Some Facts About Life — Part 2.
All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
Ecclesiastes 1:7 (KJV).
The second fact about life we’re looking at: MONEY ISN’T EVERYTHING, BUT EVERYTHING NEEDS MONEY.
Whoa! Don’t get me started. The Bible never said money is evil. But it is the love of money that is evil. The misunderstanding of that quotation has made many Christians poor as they closed their minds towards wealth. They treat money like the devil. The truth is anything you disrespect will not respect you because respect is reciprocal. If you reject money, it is a guarantee that money will reject you.
Money can be a control tool of your life, but money cannot guarantee the happiness of your life. The reason people serve money is that money is a god. I didn’t say so. I read it.
Ecclesiastes 10:19 "A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things."
King Solomon knew the value of money. Since money is how material things are obtained, it “meets a response in all things.” THOUGH Solomon was fabulously wealthy, he knew that riches have their constraints. He recognised that a selfish way of life does not unlock the door to happiness.
The “currency” of our conversation is only “ secure” if there is the “gold” of truth to back it up. Yes, our answer to everything is money. Our words are the money, and if there is no truth to back it up, it is just one like laughter or drunken words. Solomon clearly understood that the things we see and think that we know are parallels to hidden items.
A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.
This is a contextual statement. Solomon is saying that a feast will make you laugh, the wine will make you happy, but money can do both - it can make you laugh and comfortable at the same time. So it answers everything within the context of the statement.
Indeed, money is not everything, but everything needs money. Whatever you do is always related and needs money. Wisdom and money can get you almost anything, but only wisdom can save your life (ref Ecclesiastes 7:12).
