Some Facts About Life — Part 6.
All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
Ecclesiastes 1:7 (KJV).
The sixth fact about life from our series: EDUCATION IS NOT THE KEY TO SUCCESS.
What!!! Are you for real? Are you kidding me? What the heck are you saying? Am I hearing correctly, or you are trying to pull my legs?
I am not kidding. It is not just a fact; it is the truth. Don't get me wrong. Education is beautiful; I encourage it, but you need to know that education is the foundation of a successful career, but it does not guarantee you will be successful. Many people have achieved success without formal education. Education is a means of imparting skills, knowledge, values in a traditional setting and evaluating students' knowledge to check their progress. Education is not essential to achieve success. Education is not necessary to achieve success. Success depends on an individual's capacity to use their talent and creativity most effectively.
Some people see education as a god. Look, it might be necessary for some and might have been accepted as a social obligation in our society, but it will never guarantee you success. You need to apply yourself to be successful even without education. Effective communication without the four walls of an institution is education. The goals of a proper education are learning how to work for yourself, grow and adapt as a whole person, build up your character, and have a desire to learn more. The core of the word education is derived from Latin words Educare, Educere, and Educatum. Word Educare means to nourish, to bring up. The word Educere means to lead forth, to draw out. Education is the process of facilitating learning.
Going to college and getting educated will not teach you how to think. Lifetime learners constantly improve themselves – that's what's going to determine success. The challenge is that people attend college with the mentality that they will find their dream job and make a lot of wealth once they graduate. You need to understand that just because someone attends college does not guarantee anything.
Don't fall for the implicit guarantee that a college degree is your ticket to lasting success because it is not.
