Sowing the Word — Part 7.
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Matthew 13:23 (KJV).
The only word that qualifies you to receive is when you give. Give, and it will be given unto you in reasonable measures, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. Nothing leaves heaven until something leaves the earth. Sowing and reaping are laws of the natural world. Some will say it is spiritual since God enacted it during creation, but it has become part of nature. Seedtime is natural, but harvest is not because it is determined by what you did in seedtime.
If you don’t plant your seed during seedtime, there won’t be a harvest. It means harvest is not natural. You can see there is no harvest time but seedtime. If you don’t plant the word of God in seedtime on the day of adversity, you might fail. After all, your strength might be weak because you didn’t plant the word when it was the planting season. God is not responsible for the delays in your life. He has given you the power to become whatever you desire to become.
On day three of creation, God commanded the earth to bring forth living plants “bearing seed” and fruit “with seed in it” (ref. Genesis 1:12). These plants were given to humans for food (verse 29). Since the beginning, humans have understood the process of sowing and reaping and applied it to their benefit.
God also uses the law of sowing and reaping to bestow His blessing. God’s blessing generally comes to the whole world as He sends sun and rain to the unjust (ref. Matthew 5:45). In some cases, His blessing comes more especially to those of His choosing. In Genesis 26:12, we understand that Isaac sowed a crop and received a hundredfold in one season because God targeted him for blessing.
Sowing and reaping are spiritual as well. It is more than just an agricultural or natural principle. It is an adage of life that we reap what we sow. Remember, the day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit. Be patient. The sacred time will determine the harvest.
