Key Bible Verse:
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:”

The Affirmation
Our marriage is built on Christ, wisdom, and obedience. We choose love, honour, patience, and truth daily, and our home stands strong through every season.

Strong Marriage Foundations. Part 5

The Sure Word Devotion
Day 5: Patience Protects Love
Patience protects love because marriage is built between two imperfect people who are still growing. No spouse will always speak perfectly, respond perfectly, or understand quickly. When patience is missing, small issues become major battles. When patience is present, love has room to breathe, correct, and mature. A strong foundation needs patience because pressure will test every home.

Patience is not silence that hides pain. Patience is controlled strength. It gives you time to respond wisely instead of reacting harshly. It helps you ask questions before making accusations. It helps you listen before judging motives. It helps you forgive without keeping a record of every failure. Patience does not excuse wrong behaviour, but it creates space for truth to be spoken with love and for change to happen with dignity.

Today, choose patience in one area of your marriage. Do not rush to criticise. Do not answer with anger. Do not punish with withdrawal. Pause, pray, and respond with maturity. If correction is needed, speak it calmly. If forgiveness is needed, offer it sincerely. If understanding is needed, listen properly. Patience protects love by slowing reaction and strengthening connection.

Let Us Pray
Father, teach us patience in our marriage. Help us respond with wisdom, not anger. Remove harsh reactions and strengthen our love with humility, forgiveness, and understanding. Let patience protect our home and build a stronger foundation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
