When to Seek Help. Part 1
The Sure Word Devotion
Day 1: Help Is Wisdom
Seeking help is not failure. It is wisdom. Proverbs 11:14 teaches that safety is found where there is counsel. This means isolation can increase risk, but wise support can protect life, restore clarity, and strengthen decision-making. When your mind is overwhelmed, your judgement can become strained. Counsel helps you see what pressure may be hiding and gives you support before things become worse.
Many people delay help because of pride, shame, fear, or the belief that they should cope alone. That delay can make distress heavier. Help can come through trusted family, mature friends, church leaders, counsellors, therapists, doctors, support groups, or crisis services when urgent. Seeking help does not remove your faith. It strengthens your response. God can guide you through people who carry wisdom, skill, compassion, and experience.
Today, reject the lie that asking for help makes you weak. If your thoughts, emotions, sleep, appetite, relationships, or daily functioning are being affected, take it seriously. Speak early. Ask clearly. Choose safe counsel. You do not need to wait until everything collapses before you reach out. Help is wisdom, and wisdom protects your future.
