The Sure Word for Today
Strong Marriage Foundations.
Key Bible Verse:
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:”
— Matthew 7:24
The Affirmation
Our marriage is built on Christ, wisdom, and obedience. We choose love, honour, patience, and truth daily, and our home stands strong through every season.
Strong Marriage Foundations. Part 1
The Sure Word Devotion
Day 1: Build on Christ
A strong marriage needs more than feelings, attraction, or good intentions. It needs a foundation that can carry pressure, disagreement, change, and responsibility. Christ is that foundation. When a husband and wife build on His Word, they build with wisdom, not emotions alone. Love becomes more than a promise. It becomes daily obedience, patience, truth, forgiveness, and honour.
Marriage becomes unstable when it is built on pride, selfishness, silence, or personal convenience. A home cannot stand strong if each person only follows feelings. Feelings change, but Christ remains steady. Building on Christ means you listen to His teachings and practise them in your marriage. You do not only hear truth. You do truth. You forgive when pride wants to win. You speak gently when anger wants control. You serve when selfishness wants comfort.
Today, look at the foundation of your marriage or relationship. Ask what is carrying the weight. Is it Christ, or is it emotion, habit, fear, pressure, or convenience? Choose one area where you will build differently. Pray together if possible. Speak with honesty. Correct one pattern that weakens unity. A strong marriage is not built in one day. It is built daily by two people choosing Christ, wisdom, and obedience.
