Strong Marriage Foundations.

Key Bible Verse:

— Matthew 7:24

The Affirmation
Our marriage is built on Christ, wisdom, and obedience. We choose love, honour, patience, and truth daily, and our home stands strong through every season.

Strong Marriage Foundations. Part 3

The Sure Word Devotion
Day 3: Honour Builds Trust
Honour is one of the strongest foundations in marriage. Where honour is present, trust grows. Where dishonour is repeated, trust weakens. Honour means you treat your spouse with value in your words, tone, decisions, and private thoughts. It means you do not belittle, expose, ignore, or dismiss the person God has joined to you. A marriage cannot stand strongly when one person feels constantly disrespected.

Trust is not built by promises alone. Trust is built by repeated honourable actions. You build trust when you keep your word, speak truthfully, protect your spouse’s dignity, and consider their needs before making decisions. Honour also shows in small moments: listening without interrupting, saying thank you, apologising without excuses, and refusing to use weakness as a weapon during conflict.

Today, choose honour as a practical foundation. Ask yourself how your spouse experiences your tone, your patience, your honesty, and your attention. Correct one dishonouring habit immediately. Replace criticism with appreciation. Replace silence with respectful communication. Replace selfish decisions with shared wisdom. Honour is not weakness. Honour is strength under control, and it creates safety where love can grow.
