Series Title: The Power of Intention. Part 7
Regularly reflecting on and adjusting your intentions is essential for staying aligned with God's will. As life changes, so too must your plans and goals. King David provides an example of this in the Bible. Though David initially planned to build a temple for God, he adjusted his intentions when God revealed that it was not his role but Solomon's. David's willingness to realign his plans with God's purpose shows that flexibility and obedience are key to fulfilling your divine calling.
Reflection helps you to evaluate whether your intentions remain in sync with God’s plans. Life’s journey can often bring distractions, but by consistently seeking God’s guidance, you can realign your goals to match His. David sought God’s direction repeatedly throughout his life, ensuring that his actions and decisions aligned with God’s will. When you make time to reflect, you open your heart to divine adjustments that lead to greater fulfilment and peace.
The Bible encourages regular self-examination, urging you to assess and refine your intentions. In Proverbs 3:5- 6, you're reminded to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding. When your intentions drift from God's path, reflection and adjustment bring you back on track. Just as David adjusted his plans when God directed him, you, too, should be ready to change course when God speaks, ensuring your intentions remain true and purposeful.
When I take time to reflect on my intentions, I often discover areas where I need to adjust and realign with God’s will. It’s in these moments that I experience the most growth.
2 Corinthians 13:5 encourages you to "examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves." Reflecting on your intentions allows you to make necessary adjustments, ensuring you remain aligned with God’s purpose.
Take a moment to reflect on your current intentions. Are they aligned with God's will? Consider how you might need to adjust them to stay true to the path He has set for you.
"Intentions are like a compass, but without reflection and adjustment, you may stray from your true path. Align your intentions with your purpose to stay on course."
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom to reflect on my intentions. Guide me as I evaluate my goals and plans, and help me to adjust them according to Your will. Teach me to be sensitive to Your direction, just as David was. Give me the courage to change course when necessary and the humility to accept Your guidance. May my intentions always align with Your purpose for my life, leading me to fulfil the destiny You have prepared for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
