Series Title: Overcoming Self-Doubt. Part 1
Self-doubt often stems from deep-seated fears and insecurities. It can take root in your mind through past experiences, negative words spoken over your life, or constant comparison with others. These seeds of doubt grow into thoughts that question your abilities and worth, causing you to hesitate and hold back from the plans God has for you.
In the Bible, Gideon faced similar struggles in Judges 6 when God called him to deliver Israel. Despite God's clear call, Gideon questioned his strength and worthiness, doubting that he could accomplish such an excellent task. Yet, God saw him as a mighty warrior capable of leading Israel to victory. This story reminds you that your self-doubt does not limit God's view of you.
Recognising these roots of self-doubt is the first step toward overcoming them. As you confront these doubts, you begin to embrace your true identity in Christ, who empowers you to fulfil your purpose. Like Gideon, you may feel inadequate, but God's strength is made perfect in your weakness. Trust in His vision for your life, and let go of the doubts that hold you back.
Like Gideon, you might feel inadequate and unworthy, doubting your ability to fulfil God's purpose. But just as God saw the potential in Gideon, He sees the same in you. When I recognise the roots of my self-doubt, I can start addressing them with God's truth.
Psalm 139:14 reminds you that you are "fearfully and wonderfully made." This means God created you with intention and purpose. Whenever self-doubt arises, I reflect on this truth, knowing that my worth is established by God, not by my insecurities.
Consider the areas in your life where self-doubt has taken root. How can you begin to replace those doubts with God's truth? I encourage you to spend time in prayer and reflection, asking God to reveal any hidden sources of self-doubt and to fill you with His confidence.
"Your doubts do not determine your worth, but by the truth that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Embrace this and let go of self-doubt."
Heavenly Father, I come before You, acknowledging the roots of self-doubt in my life. Help me to recognise where these doubts have taken hold and give me the strength to replace them with Your truth. Just as You saw the potential in Gideon, remind me daily of the worth and purpose You have placed within me. Lead me to walk with confidence, knowing that my value is rooted in Your love and design. In Jesus' name, Amen.
