Series Title: Shedding Light on Anxiety Disorders. Part 1
Anxiety can often be masked behind smiles and outward composure. You might look at someone and not realise the inner turmoil they face daily. Recognising these hidden struggles is the first step toward healing both for you and others. King David, despite being a strong warrior and a king, battled his own inner anxieties. His Psalms often revealed his struggles with fear and anguish, yet he always turned to God for comfort and strength, acknowledging that vulnerability is part of healing.
Just like David, you may find that admitting and recognising your anxieties allows you to face them. Pretending everything is OK will not help the healing process. Awareness brings understanding, and understanding paves the way for relief. Anxiety thrives in darkness, and it's in the act of shedding light on your struggles that you begin the process of recovery. Your first step is acknowledging your hidden struggles before God, who is ready to sustain you in every circumstance.
God invites you to cast your burdens onto Him, as described in Psalm 55:22. Your anxieties are not too heavy for Him to bear. Bringing them into the light not only brings healing to your soul but can also encourage others to do the same. Recognising your hidden struggles and speaking them aloud gives you the power to overcome them, moving you closer to peace.
I have found that many people, like David, carry silent burdens, but the moment they speak about their pain, healing begins. When I face anxiety, I cast my burden on God, and He sustains me.
Proverbs 12:25 says, "Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad." Recognising anxiety is the first step; speaking a good word to others in need brings healing and comfort.
Today, I challenge you to take time and reflect on any hidden struggles you may be carrying. Is there someone you can open up to? Acknowledging your struggles will help you find healing and peace.
"The more you hide your pain, the heavier it becomes. Release it by acknowledging its presence, and healing will follow."
Dear Lord, I come before You today, recognising the hidden struggles of anxiety in my life. I cast my burdens upon You, trusting that You will sustain me and give me the strength to overcome. I was hoping you could help me to see those around me who are also struggling silently and give me the wisdom to speak words of encouragement into their lives. Thank You for being my refuge in times of trouble and for bringing light into my darkest moments. In Jesus' name, Amen.
