"The Abundance of the Free Favour of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19
Hi Visitor,
Love is tested most with those who hurt, oppose, or misunderstand you. Matthew 5:44 commands, “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” This is not natural or easy. Yet, it is one of the clearest signs of mature faith and the deepest expression of God’s love through you.
Loving difficult people does not mean approving of their actions or ignoring boundaries. It means choosing compassion over contempt and prayer over retaliation. You may not feel affection for them, but you can choose to wish them well, speak no evil about them, and release resentment from your heart. Love creates space for healing, even if the restoration of the relationship never happens.
Today, think about the people you find hardest to love. They may never change, apologise, or recognise their wrong. Choose to love them anyway, for your peace and freedom. This choice transforms you and breaks the hold of bitterness. You reflect the heart of God most powerfully when you love those who least deserve it.
Think of a time you were on the receiving end of undeserved grace or forgiveness. That memory can help you understand the power of loving those who least expect or deserve it. Let that inspire your choice today.
Jesus loved and prayed for His executioners. Stephen, while being stoned, asked God to forgive his attackers. These acts of love in the face of hate reveal true spiritual strength. You can walk in this same love through His grace.
Write down the name of one person you find difficult to love. Then write, “I choose to love and pray for you today.” Speak it aloud and pray sincerely, even if it feels hard.
"Loving those who hurt you does not change them immediately, but it always transforms you."
May God bless your heart with supernatural strength to love those who are hard to love. May He free you from bitterness and fill you with His compassion. Let your spirit be a vessel of grace and your words a source of peace. May His love shine through you in every difficult relationship. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
