Day 3: Speaking with Wisdom and Patience

The words you choose and the way you deliver them shape every conflict and every relationship. Proverbs 15:23 says, “A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” Speaking with wisdom means knowing what to say, when to say it, and how to say it. Patience ensures that your words heal rather than harm.

When emotions are high, it is easy to let frustration guide your words. But wisdom teaches you to pause, pray, and respond rather than react. Patience gives you space to think clearly, to weigh the impact of your words, and to preserve peace even when tension rises. A wise and patient response can transform conflict into an opportunity for growth and understanding.

Today, commit to slowing down before you speak. Ask God to guide your words so that they reflect His love and bring clarity rather than confusion. Remember that silence can be wiser than a rushed reply, and gentle words can accomplish more than harsh ones ever will.

Think about a time when someone’s calm and wise words de-escalated a heated moment. How did that impact you? You can be that calming influence for others by choosing patience and wisdom in every exchange.

Extend

In scripture, Jesus often paused before speaking and answered questions with wisdom that surprised even His critics. His patience reflected strength, not weakness. Let His example inspire your communication style.

Reflection And Application

Write down one situation where you need to practice speaking with more wisdom and patience. Then write, “I choose thoughtful words guided by peace.” Use this as your focus throughout the day.

Let Us Pray

May God bless your heart with discernment to choose your words wisely and the patience to deliver them with grace. May He help you bring light where there is confusion and peace where there is tension. Let every conversation reflect His wisdom and kindness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
