The Sure Word for Today

Day 7: The Reward of Perseverance

Perseverance is never wasted. Every prayer, every tear, and every effort sown in faith carries a reward. James 1:12 declares, “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” The reward of perseverance is not only the blessing you see on earth, but also the eternal crown of life.

Joseph’s story is a powerful example of reward through perseverance. Betrayed, enslaved, and imprisoned, he could have given up. Yet his perseverance positioned him to become second in command in Egypt and the one who saved nations. His reward was far greater than the trials he endured.

Today, be encouraged that your perseverance is building toward a reward. You may not see it yet, but God is faithful. Hold on, for the crown and the blessing always follow those who endure.

Connect (Your Challenge and Response)

Your challenge may be doubting whether perseverance is worth it. Your response must be to trust that God always rewards endurance in His perfect time.

Extend (Faith in Action)

Reflect on Joseph’s story or another biblical example of perseverance. Let it remind you that endurance always brings reward, both in this life and the life to come.

Write down one area where you are persevering. Declare that God will reward your faithfulness in His time, and thank Him in advance for the victory.

Let Us Pray

Lord, thank You that perseverance is never wasted. Strengthen me to endure trials with faith and patience, trusting that Your reward will come at the right time. Let my endurance bring glory to Your name and inspire others to hold on. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
