Day 5: Courage to Rise Above Discouragement

Discouragement is one of the enemy’s most effective tools. It whispers that your effort is wasted and your progress is pointless. But Joshua 1:9 declares, “Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the strength to keep moving despite it.

Elijah faced deep discouragement after his greatest victory. Exhausted and alone, he sat under a tree and asked God to end his life. Yet God restored him with food, rest, and a renewed purpose. Courage returned when he realised God was not finished with him. Likewise, you can rise above discouragement when you remember that your story is still unfolding.

Today, silence the voice of defeat with courage. When discouragement presses down, lift your eyes to the God who walks with you through every valley.

Connect: Your Challenge and Response

Your challenge may be battling thoughts that tell you to give up. Your response must be to rise with courage, trusting that you are stronger than the voice of discouragement.

Extend: Faith in Action

Encourage yourself daily with God’s promises. Write one verse that strengthens your heart and speak it each morning as a declaration of faith.

Lord, fill my heart with courage when discouragement tries to overtake me. Remind me that You are my strength and that I am never alone. Lift my spirit to rise above fear, doubt, and despair. Let my courage bring glory to You in every challenge I face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
