"The Abundance of the Free Favour of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19

Hi Visitor,
Shame is one of the strongest enemies of recovery because it tells you that your struggle is your identity. Psalm 34:17–18 gives you truth that breaks shame. God hears your cry. God stays near to the broken-hearted. God saves the contrite. This means your pain does not disqualify you. Your weakness does not make you unwanted. Shame says, “Hide.” God’s truth says, “Come.” When you replace shame with truth, healing begins inside your thoughts, and your mind starts to stabilise.
Mental illness often carries false labels that people accept as final. Some begin to believe they are damaged beyond repair. Others believe they are a burden to everyone. These thoughts intensify pain and push people into isolation. You must challenge that pattern. Truth is not positive thinking. Truth is agreement with God’s Word. God is near. God delivers. God saves. When you repeat truth consistently, your thoughts become clearer and less hostile. You stop feeding the inner voice that condemns you, and you start building a mind that can recover.
Today, practise mental renewal with discipline. Identify one shame statement that repeats in your mind and write it down. Then replace it with a truth statement grounded in God’s Word. Speak it aloud. Continue until your emotions follow your decision. Shame is not a command. Shame is a signal that you need truth. Let God’s truth reshape your thoughts, and let your thoughts reshape your choices. This is how healing begins from within and becomes visible in your life.

You may carry shame about your condition and think it makes you less valuable. Respond by rejecting that lie today. Replace shame with truth and choose thoughts that agree with God’s nearness and help.
Write one shame thought you often believe. Cross it out. Write a truth statement in its place and read it aloud three times today. Then share it with a trusted person for support.
What shame thought keeps repeating in my mind?
Where did I learn to believe that lie?
What truth from God’s Word corrects it today?
How will I practise truth when shame returns?
Who can support me as I renew my thoughts?
“Shame grows in silence and feeds on lies. Truth breaks its grip. When you agree with God’s Word, your thoughts begin to heal, your confidence rises, and recovery gains momentum inside you.”

Father, break shame off my mind. Help me to believe Your truth above my feelings. Draw near to my broken heart and restore my thinking. Strengthen me to reject lies, speak truth daily, and walk forward in recovery with courage. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
